Downton's Allen Leech kicks off the festive season in The White House with co-stars
Actor Allen Leech kicked-off his festive season with a bang after scoring an invite to a very special Christmas party – at the White House.
The Downton Abbey star was living it up in the US this week as he promoted the new season of the hit show, and the cast were delighted to attend the annual bash in Washington DC.
Dubliner Alan was joined by his co-stars including Hugh Bonneville and Kevin Doyle at one of the executive mansion’s holiday receptions on Thursday afternoon.
Alan took to social media to share photos of the group outside one of the world’s most famous buildings.
Following the reception, they then attended a special sneak peek of the first episode of the new season.
Alan and his colleagues have been fronting a publicity drive in the States ahead of the sixth and final season of Downton, which premieres in America on January 6.
They have been on a whirlwind tour as they continue to promote the show, and spent time in Sweden before hitting the States.
Alan (34), who plays former chauffeur Tom Branson, recently admitted that Downton has really helped his career take off in America after he previously struggled to find work there.
The hit ITV show also airs on US network PBS.
Series six of Downton came to a close on Irish screens last month, and will have its very last outing with a festive episode on Christmas Day.
The two-hour special will be repeated at 9pm on TV3 on St Stephen’s Day.
Alan recently said he would have loved “a different ending” for his character.
“If I’m honest, I would have liked that, but I don’t get to choose,” he said.
