Corrie’s Samia Ghadie reveals a beloved character is due to meet a grisly end in a ‘fireball’: ‘They’re the saddest scenes I’ve ever done’
Coronation Street’s Samia Ghadie has revealed that the cast is busy filming scenes in the wake of the departure of one of the soap’s most “well-loved” characters.
Although the actress, who plays Maria on the ITV soap, did not reveal which Coronation Street resident will meet their grisly end, she did say the scenes are amongst some of the saddest she has ever filmed during her time on the soap.
“It’s been great fun filming, but this week I’ve been recording some of THE saddest scenes I’ve ever done in my 17 years at Corrie,” she told OK magazine.
“When I first read the scripts I was in tears so getting to film them has just sent me off.
“You may need your tissues when they air. And we say a sad goodbye to a well-loved member of the cast.”
Although the actress did not reveal the circumstances in which the character will die, rumours have it that an explosion will rip through the fictional Manchester Street in coming months.
Just last month, viewers were left reeling following the violent death of David Platt’s wife Kylie who passed away in his arms on the cobbles awaiting an ambulance.
The soap opera has recently been taken over by a new producer, Kate Oates, who Is determined to bring more drama than ever to the fictional street.
“This is going to be up there with some of the best scenes in Corrie history,” a spokesperson for the soap commented, on the upcoming devastation.
