Kerry Katona has said her marriage to taxi driver Mark Croft was the worst relationship she has ever been in.
The former Atomic Kitten appeared on RTE One’s Ray D’Arcy Show last night and spoke about her marriage to her estranged ex-husband, with whom she had two children Heidi (9) and Maxwell (8).
“I was at my lowest when I was with rat-faced features,” she said before spotting her husband George Kay in the audience. “Stand up, stand up husband number three.”
Katona married Croft in Scotland's Gretna Green in 2007, one week before welcoming their first child together. After a tumultuous marriage the pair divorced in 2009.
Kerry and Kay wed in 2014 and spilt in 2015 but reconciled in recent weeks. The couple has a daughter together, Dylan-Jorge (2). Katona also has two daughters from her marriage to Brian McFadden, Molly (14) and Lilly (12).
Speaking of her marriage to Kay, Katona said: “We’re together and we’re very happy. All I’m going to say is anyone who is in a marriage, you all have your ups and downs.
“I’m sure you know have arguments from time to time. Unfortunately for me it’s publicised and that’s the downside but I’m very happily married. I want to work at my marriage. I can’t afford another divorce,” said Katona.
Speaking on the show, Katona recalled the first time her husband asked her to marry him, back when the pair were 17.
“The first time George asked me to marry him I was 17. We’ve known each other since we were 14.
“I had this white dress on that was see through and this silver thong with a bra underneath and George sat there like that [open mouthed].
“We were in Mrs Symths one night and he tapped me on the shoulder and went ‘Kerry will you marry me?’ And I went ‘I don’t think so’,” Katona said.
The star recently appeared on TV3’s Living with Lucy.
