Comedian Dave McSavage has turned down the advances of Sinead O’Connor and said a romance between the pair would end in heartbreak.
The comedian has captured the attention of Sinead, who described him as “a ride and a half” on her Facebook page and asked friends if he was seeing anyone.
“Myself and Sinead? I think it would end in tears pretty quickly. In fact, I reckon it might not be healthy for two people like us to get together,” McSavage told The Irish Sun.
Despite his caution when it comes to organising a date with Sinead, the comedian revealed he was extremely flattered.
“I genuinely think Sinead O’Connor is amazing, so you never know what might happen.
“It’s nice when anybody says they like you – especially for me, because I’m such an attention seeker and Sinead is an amazing artist,” he said.
Yet Sinead seems to be pretty smitten despite Dave’s cautioned reluctance to arrange a date.
“I’m so in love with this large-nosed man, it ain’t funny,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
“Can anyone let me know if he wants to be treated like a lady and f***ed like a slut? Has he got a girlfriend? If he doesn’t have a girlfriend or a wife. Or live with his mother. And he fancies a date with the greatest (pain in the ass) woman on earth.
“Tell him if he isn’t hooked up and wants his back scrubbed. I love funny men,” she finished.
Dave revealed he hopes to remain single so that he can concentrate on his work.
“It’s a weird way of getting a date but I am single and want to remain that way as I have so much work to do,” he said.
The comedian is currently starring in The Pillowman in Belfast’s Lyric Theatre.
