Shane Filan begins solo tour
Westlife star Shane Filan's personal finances might be in tatters, but his post -boyband music career is thriving.
After receiving rave reviews for his debut single 'Everything to Me', he will be embarking on his first solo tour next year.
While his single may have bombed in the UK, he performed well in Ireland, where Westlife has always held their strongest fanbase.
Kicking off the list of gigs is a performance at The Olympia on March 11, 2014.
His single 'Everything To Me' has been praised by critics and fans alike, while his album 'You & Me' is one of the most anticipated of the year, thanks to his strong fanbase from his Westlife days.
“I got off to a really good start," he explained of his burgeoning solo career.
"Everything To Me felt like beginners’ luck, but I didn’t know how good it was.
"Then the label were phoning, going “This is great!”
"I’d shown to myself I could do this and that took the pressure off.
"I was flying in those first two weeks and then suddenly I was in Nashville with really famous songwriters, partly thinking ‘WOW!’ but also ‘Right, let’s do this.’”
As for incorporating any of his private woes into his music, Filan insists that he's tried to make the album as positive as possible.
“People don’t want to hear about your problems," he said.
"Everyone has problems, lots of people are struggling financially at the moment and it’s not something to harp on about.
"What I got out of my situation is that I’m so lucky to have three healthy kids, a healthy marriage and an amazing wife.
"That’s what the album is about – trying to tell people not to worry.
"I’ve been there and it’s not worth it.
"You get through it and you try to stay positive, so I’ve tried to keep the songs positive.”
Shane has been married to his wife for 10 years, and has three children Shane Jr, Patrick and Nicole, and he's currently based in the UK.
He recently flew to St Tropez to join former manager Louis Walsh as a guest mentor on The X Factor.
Tickets start from €33.50, and are on sale from Friday 13th September at 9am, from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
