RTE broadcaster Ryan Tubridy has begun his "humbling" week-long visit to Ethiopia, a country he admits he knew "very little about" before embarking on his trip.
"After just one day here in Gambella, watching the work that GOAL does here, my eyes and mind have been opened more than I could have anticipated," he said.
"It's going to be a fascinating and educational week and it's a humbling privilege to be here".
Throughout the week, Ryan will be visiting two refugee camps near Gambella in Western Ethiopia.
Much of the work of the associated GOAL programmes focuses on nutrition for mothers and young children.
The radio and TV presenter will be visiting a street children's programme in Addis tomorrow and then off to Hawassa to see the work done there by the organisation on Thursday.
Last week, it was confirmed that Tubs would be leaving his 2FM slot for Radio One.
It is believed that Tubridy will not be replaced on 2fm as the station seeks a younger demographic.
It had been reported that Nicky Byrne (36) would replace Tubs, but with Nicky's show riding high in the the most recent JNLR ratings (new ratings are due out today), he will stay with his current show, which is co-hosted by Jenny Greene.
