RTE broadcaster Ryan Tubridy began his "humbling" week-long visit to Ethiopia this week, a country he admits he knew "very little about" before embarking on his trip.
"After just one day here in Gambella, watching the work that GOAL does here, my eyes and mind have been opened more than I could have anticipated," he said.
"It's going to be a fascinating and educational week and it's a humbling privilege to be here".
Throughout the week, Ryan will be visiting two refugee camps near Gambella in Western Ethiopia.
Much of the work of the associated GOAL programmes focuses on nutrition for mothers and young children.
The radio and TV presenter visited a street children's programme in Addis today.
“Today I witnessed the tough side of childhood in Addis. I was heartened to see the impact GOAL is having to make their world a better place,” he said.
Tubridy is travelling to Hawassa tomorrow to see the work done there by the organisation.
