Mairead Ronan (nee Farrell) says she has no desire to host her own radio show.

The radio star, who worked as a reporter on Ray D'Arcy's former radio show and is now a producer on the Ian Dempsey breakfast show, says she's happy behind the scenes.

"I enjoy production; it's what I did in college.  I fell into on-air with Ray [D'Arcy] by complete accident - it was never my plan," she says.

"I did go through phases of hoping I might do my own show some time, but now I don't.

"I'm very happy with what I'm doing and that when I go home I don't have the same stresses and worries some people have," she added.

While she's behind-the-scenes on radio, Mairead appears on the small screen in shows like Ireland's Fittest Families on RTE One.

"I can't do any more TV than I'm doing at the moment.  It takes an entire weekend to shoot one episode of Fittest Families and I'm in Today FM during the week," she said.

"I love radio and the little bit of TV I do."
