Katie Hopkins has praised Donald Trump for his ability to exploit the US tax system.
"For me, I've always been very positive about tax avoidance," she told Pat Kenny on Newstalk.
"If they've got their rules wrong, if they can't work out their own rule books, if they can't tighten the rules to stop people avoiding tax then I say avoid as much as you can.
"He simply played a very smart game with his business tax affairs. He's worked the system perfectly."
Since The New York Times published Trump's 1995 tax filings that showed his business losses were so large that they allowed him to avoid paying income taxes for as many as 18 years, there has been a huge public backlash.
However, Hopkins insisted the Republican nominee's presidential rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton, is more "dubious".
"He's paid a great deal of tax," she argued.
"He's employed a vast number of people, far more than Hillary Clinton has ever done. If you look at the amount she's taken from the Clinton Foundation and, indeed, from the media in support of her campaign, I think it's her financial affairs that are more dubious."
If Donald Trump wins the race to the White House I'm moving to America. Daring to bare what some people really think. #DonaldTrump— Katie Hopkins (@KTHopkins) December 4, 2015
The Daily Mail contributor said that Donald Trump is her "all-time hero" and believes he came out of Wednesday night's debate looking quite "presidential".
"I love Donald Trump, he's like my all-time hero," she told Newstalk listeners.
The British television personality also defended Trump's recently leaked Access Hollywood tapes in which he made lewd comments about women.
"It was a quiet chat with someone off camera with someone else. I don't have a problem with it. It was a bit of boasting. He would never do that now."
