Broke pop singer Shane Filan has suffered another heavy blow as the asking price of his Irish mansion has been slashed by a further €90,050.
The palatial Sligo spread of the bankrupt former Westlife star was initially put on the market last February for €990,000. And now–just 10 months later–the five-bedroom home is up for just €899,950. Complete with a lake, cinema, bar and gym, the Carraroe home is estimated to have cost almost €4m to complete when it was initially constructed just nine years ago.
Estate agents Sherry Fitzgerald Draper, who have been charged with the sale of the property known as ‘Castledale’, have described it as a “magnificent contemporary mansion”.
The three-storey home is equipped with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a conservatory and an entertainment lounge on the third floor. The Impressive house was home to Filan and his young family – his childhood sweet-heart wife Gillian and their three
children. Filan last year filed for bankruptcy in the UK after it emerged he had suffered severe financial woes due to the economic crash.
He had set up a property company with his brother Finbar, and it traded as Shafin Developments. The company was placed in receiver-ship in May 2012, and Filan filed for bank-ruptcy just a month later–a short while after he sold out Croke Park as part of the Westlife farewell tour.
The singer recently launched his solo career, and has made an agreement with the banks that a certain proportion of all his future earnings will be handed over to creditors.
