Despite his success on radio and TV, Callan revealed that he has no plans as of yet to return to our small screens. "We are back on the radio next year, so that's always the bread and butter, and TV is always the spin-off from the radio,” he said.

"I would like to say that it is definitely going to happen, but you never know. Like everyone we are just going to have to wait.”

As for his alleged rivalry with mimic Mario Rosenstock, Callan insisted there is no bad blood between the two comics.

"I'd love to be on for the election, for example, we are very topical. We are seen as the edgier, more risky.

"Ours has more cut which is probably why Mario was selected for the Sunday night because he has that broad appeal.”

Former Minister of Justice Alan Shatter and Radio One star Sean O'Rourke were also among guests at the launch in Dublin’s Hibernian Club.
