One of the greatest workers in Irish Bridge passed away some days ago, just short of reaching the magic century.
Margo McClure was one of the great pillars of the game in Northern Ireland and I had the privilege of being her friend for more years than I care to remember.
She was the great mover behind the now-defunct Enniskillen Congress and played such a major role in promoting the event and making sure the many visitors were well looked after both in her home and in the hotel.
This coming weekend sees 12 pairs battling for three places on the Lady Milne team, - of course that means a clash with Kilkenny Congress at the Ormonde Hotel. Entries to Gretta Kelly at 056-7752040; Mary Fawsitt 087-2474900 or email@example.com.
Regional championships follow, then it's on to the Master Pairs (Dec 5-6), and we sign off the year with the senior Camrose trials. News of a new inter-county team competition for intermediate players. Don't agree with Brian Senior's comment on one of the hands from the SIM Pairs. Here is a hand he says "West should not punish partner for his enterprise". He most certainly should and tell him it is their last game.

That overcall is idiotic and the penalty well deserved. What is the point only to warn opponents about a Spade lead if in NT. What tricks have you?
