One of the truly great performances by Irish Bridge players was the recent victory of Nick FitzGibbon and Adam Mesbur in one of the most prestigious events of the world calendar.
At the Cavendish Trophy in Monaco they beat as strong a field as you are every likely to see - the likes of Mahmood and Bilde, Helness and Helgemo, Madala and Duboin.
It should be remembered Nick and Adam had just returned from a highly successful run at the world senior championship in India, where the Irish team won through to the quarter-finals. All terrific news from an Irish international point of view.
Can't understand why we are seeing two weekends of ladies trials.
We have simultaneous pairs all this coming week - and remember, the idea is to raise funds for the IBU and its international programme. Our teams deserve your support, so I hope to see record entries.
Dundalk is next on the congress agenda from Nov 13 to 15. Note early starts for pairs and teams. Entries to Eileen McEntegart at 042-9321643.
This week I'd like to show you a tricky hand from the Lady Milne trials.
