Bridge players are noted for their generosity when it comes to charitable events.
I remember an African appeal raising more than €1,000 on a single morning in the Templeogue Centre. With that in mind I expect to see a big turnout for an open pairs in the Ballyroan Community Centre on Marian Road on Sunday, September 13. This event is in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin and starts at 3pm. Prizes for all grades and the cost is just a tenner.
Are you a progressive Improver? Aren't we all. Anyway Peter Pigot has his intermediate seminar at St Paul's, Glenageary on Sept 5 and that's the level of instruction. He can be contacted at 086-8146230 or PaterPigotBridge@gmail.com.
Remember if you don't play in the Bray Swiss teams next Sunday you will have to answer to Mamie McCormac and I for one wouldn't like that. Starts at 1.30pm at the Royal Hotel. Entries to Mamie at 087-9318377 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interesting hand from the Bray Summer League. Would you get this right? Richard Elvin did - and he was the only one to make the Grand.

Note that S still relays 2D even with that enormous hand. E finds the D lead because on a S lead, N can pretty well claim. Now to find that SQ. N did by running the SJ. Everyone else finessed the other way.
