Nicky Byrne is ‘smitten’.The Westlife star has told of how he has fallen in love with baby daughter Gia.
His wife Georgina Ahern gave birth to Gia almost four weeks ago – and Nicky plus the couple’s twin sons Jay and Rocco are in love.
Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE’s Radio One this morning, the former Westlife singer said the baby girl is very different to her six-year-old brothers.
“Little Gia is four weeks on Wednesday,” he said.
“She’s doing really well, she’s an adorable little girl. Absolutely beautiful. Very placid. She’s way different to the boys.
“I’m totally smitten – I fell in love all over again.
“She’s absolutely gorgeous and doing really well,” the doting dad told Miriam.
And her older brothers are equally head over heels.
“It’s amazing to see them coming in from school and rush over and give her a kiss.
“You kind of have to nearly to pull them frnom her, they’re smothering her that much but they absolutely love her,” he explained.
He joked with Miriam that he didn’t know how she had eight children.
“How you had eight children I’ll never know. You kind of forget what it’s like
“I get a real sense a satisfaction now when you try and wind her for ten minutes and then all of a sudden the burp comes and I’m like ‘yes, we did it’.”
The TV presenter was speaking ahead of this week’s Cheerios Childline concert.
The concert has raised more than €4.5m for Childline since it was established 16 years ago.
It is hoped that it will raise more than €400,000 for the charity this year.
The line-up includes Union J, Shane Filan, Boyzone who are celebrating their 20th anniversary, Conor Maynard, Little Mix, B*Witched and The Coronas. The event will be hosted by Nicky, who says the concert is a cause close to his heart.
Speaking about Weslife, the singer said he misses the band but felt it was the right time for each of them to pursue different opportunities.
