Elton dismisses lightweight Lily with a derisive snort
Lily could only come up with a feeble response to Elton's remarks

You have to love Elton John. While other elder rockers express "concern" that too many of our bright young stars are wasting their talents on drugs, pop's Marie Antoinette is simply concerned that they're a bit lightweight when it comes to taking them. This week he sighed at Lily Allen that he could "still snort her under the table."
And how lame was her reply? "I don't know what you're talking about". You got the feeling Elton could have told Dame Judi Dench he could snort her under the table and she'd have come up with something a little wittier than that. Lily could have at least pretended.
But Elton is right to bait. No sooner have today's young rockers taken two tokes of a joint than they are whisked away to rehab by their managers and parents (as soon as the press have been notified, of course). By the time they come back -- usually with a new religious interest they want to talk about -- the moment has passed. It's just not very rock 'n' roll at all. Back in Elton's day you had to be a hardcore addict (and many of them were, including him) for 10 years before anyone dared mention professional help. It wasn't a healthier approach, but it was definitely far less annoying.
