Britney suicide claims by sleuth
Sunday August 31 2008
BRITNEY Spears has tried to commit suicide four times: including once while she was in rehab, when she tried to hang herself with a sheet and another time, in January 2007, when she took a large quantity of pills and washed them down with champagne.
So claims celebrity sleuth Ian Halperin, who went undercover as a paparazzo for 18 months to spy on the singer for his upcoming book: Stalking Britney: Britney Under Siege.
Halperin (who has penned similar exposes on Celine Dion and Kurt Cobain) also claims the 26-year-old started doing cocaine at 16 and in the wake of her divorce, had a whopping $30,000-a-week drug habit.
Most mind-bending of all, he writes, Britney wanted to hire a hit man to knock off ex-husband, Kevin Federline, so that she would have sole custody of their kids.
"There's no doubt, based on the last two years, that she is a highly unstable person," he said last week "She's on a temporary high right now, but she's never really dealt with all the problems she had. I don't think it's possible to turn over a new leaf just like that."
None the less, he added, Britney is a "good mother, and a good person... In fact, she's nicer than most of the stars I've met. But as Britney once told me herself, her life has always been two steps forward, followed by one step back."
