My perfect weekend: Simon Delaney
The plan for Saturday night.
I'm actually flying to London on Saturday evening. I'm going to be filming all day Sunday in London.
What are you starring in ?
The new TV show, Fame the Musical.
Pub, club or restaurant you couldn't live without?
Do you know what? With two small kids, I haven't seen the inside of a pub in years. Em... let me think. Well, I like going down to Swords. I'm a huge Manchester United fan. Where I normally watch the matches is the Carnegie Court Hotel in Swords. They do great food down there and it's great for the football.
Did you seek out Sky's 3D match a few weekends back?
No, I watched it at home but I didn't have my glasses. I can't wait for that to be brought in.
Best weekend ever?
With Valentine's Day approaching, I'd better say the day I got married. It was July 2, 2005, a Saturday. We had our reception in Druids Glen in Wicklow. Myself and my groomsman played golf in Druids Glen the next morning.
That's a pretty sweet start to married life. So what about your worst weekend ever?
The worst ever? That's a good one... let's see...
last year, we were touring with Stones In His Pockets. We were 13 weeks on the road. My weekends were made up of finishing the show, wherever in the country, and driving home.
Sounds like a whole bunch of rubbish weekends.
I remember a particularly gruesome drive last October, from Letterkenny to Dublin. I had to leave at about quarter past 11 in the lashing rain. Of course, I ran out of petrol. It took seven hours to get home.
Nasty. So, on a lighter note, what is your perfect date?
Today is my wife Lisa's birthday. I'm bringing her to Shanahan's on St Stephen's Green.
Simon Delaney stars in Stones in his Pockets, at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin March 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. He also stars in the film Zonad, released in March
