My perfect weekend: Michelle Doherty

The plan for Saturday night?

It's my birthday, so I'm going out for dinner with my friends.

Anywhere nice in mind?

Koh in the Italian Quarter, though it's actually a Thai place. It's lovely and we're all looking forward to everybody catching up together.

Must-see gig/performance of the weekend?

We have our Phantom First Friday fundraiser for Haiti. It's on at The Academy.

Who's headlining?

Republic of Loose, Heathers, Royseven and Doris.

Nice! So, what's the pub/restaurant/club you couldn't live without?

Whelan's, I'd say.

Oooh, bit of a cliche there, Michelle.

I love Whelan's. I just love it. It's so easygoing. There's no nonsense, just people who love their music.

Best weekend ever?

EVER?

Well, okay, best moderately good weekend that sticks in the memory?

I love getting home to my family. My sister has two little kids; I love seeing them.

Worst weekend ever?

Probably one of the weekends where we were snowed in after Christmas and you couldn't get out of the house. I got a wee bit freaked out.

Two words: cabin fever...

Exactly. I never sit down, I never stop. So it was probably good for me. I couldn't go anywhere. It was like, 'let's calm down for a wee while'.

Favourite pre-going out ritual?

I have to have the tunes up full blast. It's a must.

What sort of stuff do you play?

Probably all kinds of 'Phantom music'. As loud as you can go...
