My Perfect Weekend: Fergal McCarthy
Published 10/09/2010 | 05:00
The plan for Saturday night?
The Macnas event at Collins Barracks for the opening night of Absolut Fringe. Will try to get along to the Taylor Mac gig afterwards in the brand new Festival club at the Grand Social on Liffey St.
Must see gig/performance of the weekend?
FM Belfast (paradoxically from Reykjavik) on September 23 will be a must-see for me. I first saw them perform their crazy electro pop in Iceland and can't wait to see them in Dublin at last.
Pub / restaurant/ club you couldn't live without?
Bibi's has finally brought sensational food to Dublin 8, where I live. I'm also very happy in the Library Bar in the Central Hotel at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon.
Best weekend ever?
Partying in Berlin with friends. Cycling from club to club until dawn, refueling on currywurst, swimming in lakes. It's an amazing city.
Worst weekend ever?
Arriving in Laos with no money on a Friday, with banks closed until Monday, and surviving all weekend on a bunch of bananas and a loaf of bread.
Favourite pre-going out ritual?
Top post-pub munchies?
Fish-finger sandwiches on soft, white bread are hard to beat.
Weirdest taxi queue moment?
I strategically live a 15-minute walk from town.
Best chat-up line at 2am?
I live a 15-minute walk from town, the fish fingers are on me!
Your perfect date
Bjork. Yes, I have a thing for Iceland.
McCarthy's latest work, Liffeytown, will be in the River Liffey as part of the Absolut Fringe Festival from September 12-25
