Westlife endorse One Direction
Westlife have given their backing to X Factor boyband One Direction - saying the group are going to be "massive".
The Irish chart-toppers, who were attending the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Of The Year awards, said they looked forward to competing with One Direction in the charts.
Asked who would win this year's X Factor, singer Nicky Byrne said "probably One Direction I would say", adding: "This time next year they're going to be massive."
Asked about competing with the group in future, he said: "Yeah why not? Bring it on. They're very good, they're a great little boy band."
Simon Cowell recently let slip that Take That, Westlife and JLS will all be performing on the same X Factor show.
Fellow Westlife singer Mark Feehily said: "It's going to be ourselves, Take That and JLS. It's going to be a good week. I think it's fantastic ... a celebration of boy bands.
"A few years back, I don't know if people would have believed it if you told them that three boy bands were going to be on and they were going to be as big as ever. It's not in a nostalgic sense, it's here and now. We're all very much relevant right now in pop music. It's a great time for boy bands."
