They have played the main stage at Electric Picnic and some of the biggest venues in the country. Now they can add a random student house party to that list.

Hermitage Green are one of Ireland's biggest bands, with their debut album, Save Your Soul, being released to critical and commercial acclaim earlier this year.

Hence most people's surprise at seeing the band at a random house party in UCD yesterday.

One of the members of the band, Barry, got in touch to let us know the story behind the gig.

He said: "The lads have been coming to a lot of our gigs and always get up in the pit area and get pretty boisterous... They also Snapchat us from house parties where they play our song "Renegade", while tagging themselves as "The Renegades".

"I met a few of them on a night out in Cork last week and I drunkenly promised them we would play at a house party for the craic some night. The next day we chatted on Facebook and they said they could do something this week."

The band revealed that they were delighted to play the gig and also said that it may not be their last appearance at a house party.

"We have had hundreds of messages and emails from students all over the country looking for a house party gig so we'll definitely be doing this again soon," he said.
