WATCH: Chris Cornell's cover of 'Nothing Compares To You' proves he was one of the greatest vocalists of all time
A haunting performance.
Considered as one of the greatest vocalists of all time by his peers, critics and fans, the grunge icon's voice could shake entire stadiums.
While fans are used to hearing his legendary four-octave vocals cut through rock and grunge anthems, Cornell could also sing with a haunting grittiness.
In a performance for SiriusXM studios a few years ago, the Audioslave and Soundgarden frontman sang a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U, the song written and composed by Prince but made famous by Sinead O'Connor.
The song takes on a more sombre and poignant tone in the aftermath of his sudden and untimely death on Wednesday at just 52.
But it's a gorgeous reminder of how powerful his voice was.
