THE top of the singles chart is increasingly dominated by collaborations, with new figures showing they have reached a record high.
Tracks credited to one act but "featuring" another have so far accounted for half of this year's number ones.
Current top single We Found Love is attributed to Rihanna Ft Calvin Harris and is one of three chart-topping tracks so far this year in which the Barbadian singer has been involved in a collaboration.
The "Ft" tactic has been on the rise for a number of years but is now at a new high.
Labels have used the method to launch a new act or merely capitalise on the fanbase of both acts.
Figures compiled by the Official Charts Company shows that, of the 46 charts published this year, 23 have have been topped by such a collaboration. It is a significant rise on previous years with just a quarter last year and a fifth in 2009.
The biggest selling "featuring" team of the year so far has been Jessie J ft BOB with Price Tag which has sold nearly a million copies.
Other big sellers in the data published at www.theofficialcharts.com include Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO Ft Lauren Bennett and Goonrock and Give Me Everything by Pitbull, Ft Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer.
