Vanilla Ice transported some festival-goers back two decades in time as he performed an impromptu gig at Glastonbury.

The US hip-hop star belted out his massive 1990 No 1 Ice Ice Baby after taking to the stage in Glastonbury's Guilty Pleasures tent.

Vanilla Ice - whose real name is Robert Van Winkle - also treated the several hundred-strong crowd to Play That Funky Music, another hit off his 11 million selling debut album To The Extreme.

But an apparent lack of material saw him reprising Ice Ice Baby moments into the gig.

Student Daniel Chalmers, 21, from Brixton in London, said: "We saw a queue around 8pm and wondered what it was all about. We asked a few people and they said Vanilla Ice was playing. I thought it was a joke at first but we managed to get in. Most of the stuff he played I didn't recognise at all, but it was worth it for Ice Ice Baby."

He added: "It's all a bit silly really but it feels very Glastonbury."

Addressing the hundreds packed in the tent, Vanilla Ice said: "Let's get drunk. Let's have a drink. This is the proper Glastonbury!"

Big Brother 7 contestant Nikki Grahame was among those in the crowd, but seemed less than pleased to be there as she watched with her arms crossed.
