Vampire Weekend landed a Glastonbury booking during a live radio show, via Twitter.
The US quartet appeared on BBC 6 Music performing a live session when they were asked if they would be playing the festival this year.
They said they were "hopeful" of playing but it was in the hands of organiser Emily Eavis.
"Give us a call, we're waiting," frontman Ezra Koenig urged, as the band spoke to presenter Lauren Laverne.
Eavis was listening to the show and sent a message through networking service Twitter, which read "Yes, Friday 25th?!"
The delighted band said they had enjoyed a previous performance. Ezra said: "The first time we played Glastonbury was totally a high point for us. It was incredible."
The festival takes place over the last weekend of June and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
