The Bangor trio have been nominated in the Best Newcomer category along with the XX, Mumford And Sons, The Drums and Wild Beasts.

The band, currently in the middle of a sell-out tour across the UK, were included in the BBC Sounds of 2010 predictions list last year, alongside Marina And The Diamonds and Ellie Goulding.

Earlier this year they released their debut album Tourist History and their fan base has been growing, with shows across Europe, North America and the Far East. Between now and the end of the year they will play 50 more shows throughout the UK, Mexico and Canada.

A spokesman for Two Door Cinema Club's management said: "It's a huge achievement for the band -- a real testament to all the hard work the guys have put in over the last few years and the great album they have delivered."

Also up for a Q Award this year are Florence And The Machine (Best Female and Best Track), Paul Weller (Best Male and Best Album), Arcade Fire (Best Video, Best Album, Best Act in the World) and Lady Gaga (Best Live Act).
