Choirmaster Gareth Malone has landed another royal role - as the host of TV coverage of the Queen's Coronation Festival Gala.

The music maestro will team up with news presenter Sophie Raworth to front a BBC1 highlights show drawing together performances from Buckingham Palace which include artists such as Katherine Jenkins and Katie Melua.

Malone appeared at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert last year, conducting the Military Wives choir as they took part in a performance of the specially written anthem for the occasion, Sing. And he was at the Palace earlier this year to collect the OBE which he was awarded last year.

Performances at the Palace take place over three days next week, with highlights to be screened on July 13.

Malone said: "I'm thrilled to be presenting the Coronation Festival Gala alongside Sophie. It will be an evening to remember."

Other performers include Russell Watson, The Feeling and the English National Ballet.
