Tina Turner is on her way to becoming a Swiss citizen.
The American rock diva has lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht since 1995.
Now the local council has announced its decision to grant the 73-year-old Simply The Best singer citizenship, newspaper Zuerichsee-Zeitung revealed on its website.
Tina's spokeswoman Karin Rhomberg told the paper that the singer wanted to "clarify her situation".
" Tina Turner will therefore also give back her US citizenship," she said.
The singer previously told German language newspaper Blick: "I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here... I cannot imagine a better place to live."
The decision still requires formal approval from state and federal authorities before it becomes official.
