TOM Jones is releasing a vinyl single that will be sold only in the shop where he bought records as a teenager.

The 71-year-old Voice of the Valleys has recorded a new song called Evil with Jack White, the guitarist known for his work in the White Stripes.

He has insisted that Spillers Records in Cardiff is the only shop in the world to stock the single, which will feature multi-coloured vinyl.

Sir Tom, who was born in nearby Pontypridd, bought records from the shop, which lays claims to being the world’s oldest record store, as a schoolboy.

Its owner, Ashli Todd, says Sir Tom’s fans are desperate to get their hands on a treasured copy.

“It’s been overwhelming,” he said. “We’ve had people from all over the country and Europe ringing up about the release.”

They will have to be quick. Evil will cost £15 when it goes on sale next month but there are only 100 copies.
