MODEL Nadia Forde missed last night’s Tivoli Theatre performance of Jack and the bean stalk – leaving panto producers frantically scrambling to find a last minute replacement.
The model was working in Belfast yesterday morning – and despite leaving plenty of time to make it back for the evening’s performance – didn’t make it to Dublin in time.
Delayed by bad weather and a diversion on the route due to an accident, it took the top model over four hours to make it back to the capital – a journey which normally takes just over two hours.
To further compound show producer’s headache, their usual stand in was unavailable to perform last night.
The show’s producers, Alan Hughes and Karl Broderick, only heard the news that Nadia wouldn’t make it at 6.45 – just 45 minutes before show time.
TV3 presenter Alan Hughes said: “All was not lost as our musical director Ross O’Connor’s wife, actress Elaine Hearty dashed to the theatre to step into Nadia’s shoes just in time to save the night.
“The audience loved the show and Elaine got a great reaction from the crowd”.
The model only arrived at the end of the show, and was described as ‘shaken’ by the ordeal - but congratulated Elaine on her performance.
