Shingai Shoniwa from The Noisettes says the festival she's most excited about playing this year is a "homecoming" gig in Malawi.

The band is playing the Lake Of Stars festival this summer - their first ever gig in Africa.

Shingai said: "For me it's going to almost feel like a homecoming gig because I come from a huge African family and my grandmother is from Malawi and when I was about 11 I went to live with her for a bit, I went to school there for a bit so I've always been a bit back and forth between London and my big, spread out African family."

She added that she was pleased her band, who this week have played a string of members-only gigs for Russian Standard Vodka Originals, were playing in an area which doesn't often host international acts.

She said: "I'm just really excited that my band are so delighted about playing a festival where a lot of bands and musicians don't play.

"Sometimes its nice to send a message out to those kids to say 'everyone deserves to hear great live music."
