The Corrs are back -- but not together

Million-selling Irish super group The Corrs are back releasing records and gigging.

Just not together.

In October, lead singer Andrea Corr returns for a solo appearance at a special gig in London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on October 10 to mark the birthday of the late Kirsty MacColl.

Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan is also on the bill.

Andrea's older sister Sharon (left) will release her debut solo album Dream Of You on September 13.

Gone is the Shania Twain-style pop of later Corrs records in favour of scaled-back tracks, including a cover of Bronski Beat's hit 'Smalltown Boy'.

Not the most obvious of covers, perhaps, but Sharon explained: "The song's lyrics would break your heart: Alone on a platform, the wind and rain on a sad and lonely face."

"What must it have been like for Bronski Beat's singer Jimmy Somerville, moving from Glasgow and being a gay man in a predominantly heterosexual place?"

Meanwhile, brother Jim Corr is back making music too -- and has recently signed up to Twitter, @JimCorrSays. He currently has 46 followers.
