James Bay and soul singer Leon Bridges are also on the bill for the 10-day event of live shows, which kicks off at Camden's Roundhouse in north London on September 19.

Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, who will perform their set on September 20, said: "Really excited to be playing our first ever Apple Music Festival alongside an amazing line-up.

"We had a great time on tour in the UK and are looking forward to playing the Roundhouse in September before we head out to Europe."

The latest acts to be revealed join previously announced names One Direction in one of their last live performances before they take a hiatus, as well as Little Mix, Pharrell Williams, Disclosure and Florence + The Machine.

Florence Welch and Brit-winner Bay will close the festival on September 28, with the opening act still to be revealed.

Bay said: "The Roundhouse is one of London's greatest venues. I've listened to so many live records recorded from that very stage.

"So to be able to say I get to play there too is a really big deal for me."

Manchester duo The Chemical Brothers - aka Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons - said they are "looking forward" to taking to the stage on September 24.

The pair teased: "It's going to be exciting to be back in London, in a brilliant venue for Apple Music Festival. Hold tight!"

Canadian star Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, said of his forthcoming gig on September 23: "Very honoured to be a part of the line-up this year."
