Susan Boyle is to perform for the Pope during his visit to Scotland next month.
She will perform as part of the pontiff's open air celebration of mass in Glasgow's Bellahouston Park on September 16, a spokesman for the singer said.
The 49-year-old, from Blackburn in West Lothian, is expected to perform three songs, including her smash hit I Dreamed A Dream, which catapulted her to fame on Britain's Got Talent.
She told the Daily Record newspaper the invitation to sing before Benedict XVI was "my greatest dream come true".
She said: "To be able to sing for the Pope is a great honour and something I have always dreamed of. It's indescribable. I've always wanted to sing for His Holiness and I can't really put into words my happiness that this wish has come true at last. I am humbled and honoured by this invitation and I hope I can do my best."
The singer is to perform three times at Bellahouston Park, as well as singing with the 800 strong choir, the Roman Catholic Church said.
She will sing the hymn How Great Thou Art and will also sing a farewell song to Pope Benedict as he leaves the park to travel to Glasgow Airport for his flight to London and the continuation of his four day British visit.
She said: "The Pope's visit is a very big event for Scottish Catholics. My own faith is the backbone of my life, I pray and say the rosary each day and am very close to my religion.
Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus is also to sing for the Pope during the service.
