Strictly Come Dancing star Simon Webbe will be hoping to show off his 'reel' skills when he appears in Belfast next month.

The singer, who shot to fame with boyband Blue, is set to headline a massive St Patrick's Day concert in the city.

Webbe, who was runner-up in the 2014 television series, will be joined by Britain's Got Talent semi-finalists Innova and Louis Walsh's latest act HomeTown for the free gig on March 17.

Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon said: "This year's St Patrick's Day celebrations look set to be bigger and better than ever and I can't wait to enjoy the colour and spectacle on show through the streets of Belfast.

"Our annual St Patrick's Day festival is a great way to promote the wonderful culture and creativity that exists in our city.

"We have a growing reputation for holding world class events and St Patrick's Day will be no different."

The concert will follow a huge carnival-style parade which will see a giant puppet of Ireland's patron saint chase model snakes through the city centre streets.

Musicians, pipe bands, floats, dancers and street performers will also take part.

Webbe and band mates Lee Ryan, Antony Costa and Duncan James enjoyed chart-topping success throughout the noughties with hits such as All Rise, One Love and Guilty before splitting in 2005.

His solo career was less successful and Blue re-formed in 2011 to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest where they finished in 11th place.

He has also starred in the West End musical Sister Act alongside Sheila Hancock and Whoopi Goldberg.
