IT achieved the highest number of ticket sales prior to its opening and the Irish premiere of 'Wicked' made for a star-studded affair.
The musical phenomenon has officially landed in Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre and more than 130,000 people will flock to the venue over the course of its eight-week run on Irish shores.
A green carpet was rolled out at the theatre last night, with several well-known faces turning out to watch the colourful cast make their way to Emerald City.
'Love/Hate' stars Aoibhinn McGinnity and Peter Coonan were in attendance, with Coonan (28) bringing his girlfriend Kim O'Driscoll, who is seven months pregnant, along for the occasion. The couple posed together for the first time.
"I played the lion in 'The Wizard of Oz' when I was younger, so I'm very excited about this," said Coonan as he made his way to his seat.
Other guests included broadcasters Pat Kenny, Marty Whelan and Joe Duffy. Caroline Downey enjoyed the evening out with her daughter Storm. "We saw it in New York years ago – it's marvellous and I think it's brilliant when shows of this size come to Dublin."
