Snoop Dogg is to star in a biopic of blues musician and infamous pimp Fillmore Slim.
The rapper and hip hop star - whose previous films include Training Day and Starsky and Hutch - will play the blues guitarist and singer in The Legend of Fillmore Slim, it was announced by Ames Universal and SRI Entertainment, Deadline.com reported.
Fillmore Slim, whose real name is Clarence Sims, is now 77 and is currently on tour as a blues musician. But during the 60s and 70s he was also a well-known pimp in San Francisco, nicknamed "The West Coast Godfather of the Game" and "The Pope of Pimping".
The film will be directed by Hawthorne James and is due to begin shooting in March. Fillmore's daughter Rebecca Sims has helped out on the project, which has been written by Carole Parker and Alan Ames, who is also co-producing.
Alan said: "This film will span decades, from Slim's emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption."
