Carly Rae Jepsen had to pull out of a support slot because of illness

Carly Rae Jepsen has spoken of her disappointment after illness forced her to pull out of a Justin Bieber gig just hours before her birthday.

The Good Time singer, who turns 27 today, was due to perform a support slot for her pal Justin at the Consol Energy Centre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

But she tweeted: "So bummed I'm missing the show. Sorry guys. Chicken noodle soup and bed for me."

Fans rushed to offer their get well wishes to the singer, who is due to perform a birthday slot ahead of Justin in Michigan.

Earlier this week, Carly Rae was targeted by angry One Direction fans after they lost out to her at the American Music Awards.

The British boyband missed out on the New Artist of the Year award to Carly, and shortly afterwards some of their fans took to Twitter and issued threats to the Canadian singer.
