Serge Pizzorno on being rocker dad
Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno has admitted it was hard leaving his baby son to go on tour with the band.
The guitarist's partner Amy gave birth to baby boy Ennio Silva Pizzorno four weeks' early - just as Serge returned from touring in Australia - earlier this month, but he was booked to play a string of festivals with the band this summer.
Serge said: "He was like four days old and I had to go on tour. But that's what his dad does - he understands that already. I told him, I had a moment with him, with just me and him, and I explained where I was going, what I've got to do, and he was like 'yeah, that's fine. Keep on playing'."
Kasabian are rocking Virgin Media's V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire this weekend.
The band have played the festival three times in the last six years, but Serge's most memorable V performance was caused by some unfortunate footwear.
He revealed: "I remember making a big mistake because I bought some shoes and I didn't try them on before we played. You should always do that because when you're playing, if your shoes don't feel right, you can't get your balance and what have you.
"I bought them because they were just a really good pair of shoes and put them on about three minutes before we did the gig - and realised that I can't hardly walk in them. But I was too late so I had to do the gig in these massive Vic Reeves kind of style shoes. And I was pressing the pedal going, 'this is horrible, man. get me out of here as quick as you can'."
