Search for 'feisty' Dorothy begins
Andrew Lloyd Webber is cranking up the pressure on his budding stage stars as his search for the new Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz goes live.
Over The Rainbow, the BBC's talent show to find the next West End star, will see the final 10 girls chosen by the judging panel go head to head as they sing for the public's votes.
The wannabes will be joined by the 11th wildcard Dorothy as chosen by the viewers.
After singing live for the first time they face scrutiny from the show supremo himself along with Charlotte Church, Sheila Hancock and John Partridge.
Lord Lloyd-Webber has said Judy Garland's movie performance was "iconic" but he was not looking for an impersonation and wanted a modern Dorothy.
"I'm looking for a girl who's a bit feisty. It's got to be a Dorothy who's got a bit of edge," he said.
Over The Rainbow follows other hugely successful TV talent searches by Lord Lloyd-Webber such as I'd Do Anything and Any Dream Will Do.
Jodie Prenger, who won a part as Nancy in the West End show Oliver! on 2008's I'd Do Anything, performed during last week's show.
