"There's a bit of Scrooge in all of us at this particular time," says actress Mairi Cowieson, who stars in the musical version of Charles Dickens' timeless classic A Christmas Carol, which opens in the Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin, on December 7.
Mairi is just one of the colourful cast of Scrooge, which stars Tommy Steele and has been touring in the UK since October.
"We're all really looking forward to Dublin," says Mairi, who plays Bob Cratchit's wife in the upscale musical.
"I've been to visit [Dublin] and really enjoyed it, but this will be my first time performing," says the Scottish actress, who has done everything on the stage, from dancing on stage with rock band Simply Red to appearing in Kavanagh QC.
The star of the show is the legendary Tommy Steele, who, apart from film credits like Finian's Rainbow, has appeared in countless musicals like Singin' in the Rain and Half a Sixpence.
His performances in Scrooge at the London Palladium sent him into the record books as the star to have headlined the most performances at the famous West End theatre.
Described as "a thrilling spectacular", Scrooge opens this Tuesday, December 7 and will run until Sunday, January 2.
