Rihanna is to make her Hollywood debut in new action movie Battleship.
The Umbrella singer will star alongside True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Friday Night Lights' Taylor Kitsch in a big screen adaptation of the classic naval combat board game, Variety reports.
Peter Berg, who has worked with Taylor on NBC series Friday Night Lights, will direct the film, which takes place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force.
Taylor will star as a naval officer who leads the fight and Alexander will play his brother.
Rihanna's role is not yet known but she is expected to be a love interest for one of the brothers.
Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber wrote the screenplay based on the Hasbro strategy board game.
A release date has been set for May 25, 2012.
