Preeya admits nerves over pop move
Preeya Kalidas has admitted she is nervous about making the move into a pop career.
The 29-year-old left her role as EastEnders' Amira Masood to pursue her musical ambitions.
She said: "I am nervous because it's something I've always wanted to do and I'm passionate about it. It's personal to me and it's something I've created. But as much as I'm nervous, I'm also very excited."
Preeya releases her new single, Shimmy, on July 26, and dons tiny hot pants for the music video.
She said of the track: "It's a vibrant, sassy, urban pop song that makes you want to dance."
Shimmy features Mumzy Stranger, and has given Preeya a taste for future collaborations.
"I'd love to work with Justin Timberlake and also have a collaboration with a female, someone like Estelle," she said.
Preeya has finished recording her debut album, and promises it will cater for "every mood".
