Simon and Garfunkel classic Mrs Robinson is enjoying a popularity revival due to an internet campaign to push the song to No 1 - "in honour of Northern Ireland's disgraced First Lady".

A campaign group mobilised on Facebook to propel the song from Dustin Hoffman movie The Graduate to the top spot has almost 13,000 members.

The film tells the story of a college graduate who embarks on an affair with an older woman.

A political crisis has erupted over Iris Robinson's private life and financial affairs after it was disclosed she had an affair with a toyboy lover. First Minister Peter Robinson has temporarily stepped down.

The track had climbed to No 23 in Amazon.co.uk's "bestsellers in MP3 songs" by January 12 - but it still has some way to go to hit the top spot - sitting at 165 in the charts midweek.

The power of internet campaigns was shown at Christmas when Rage Against The Machine were sent to No 1 - at the expense of X Factor winner Joe McElderry.
