Police in public plea to trace Bez
A public appeal to trace former Happy Mondays star Bez has been made by police after he failed to answer bail over allegations he breached a restraining order.
His ex-girlfriend Monica Ward claims the father of their two-year-old son had pestered her with text messages and phone calls since he was convicted of assaulting her in August.
Bez, 46, who found fame with his freaky dancing in the Happy Mondays in the late 1980s, was jailed for four weeks after a row over money with Miss Ward.
Earlier this month Bez - real name Mark Berry - attended a police station and was bailed pending further inquiries until November 17.
He failed to turn up for his appointment last week and police have now issued the wanted alert.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "A man is wanted for breaching a restraining order.
"Mark Berry failed to answer police bail and has not made contact with the police.
"Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police on 0161 856 7574."
Bez was originally given a community service order for committing the assault but refused to comply with the sentence and was then sent to prison by Manchester magistrates.
The court heard he flew into a rage and put his hands round Miss Ward's neck and throttled her.
