Pete Townshend to leave The Who?
Pete Townshend has claimed he might have to leave The Who - if his hearing deteriorates.
The rock guitarist, who is suffering from tinnitus, has already had to shelve plans for a 2010 tour with bandmate Roger Daltrey because of his hearing problems.
"If my hearing is going to be a problem, we're not delaying shows - we're finished; I can't really see any way around the issue," he told Rollingstone.com.
The group had a triumphant performance at the Super Bowl in Miami, where they played a 12-minute medley to 150 million viewers.
Pete is now hoping a new high-tech "in-ear monitor" will save his career, and will give the device a go when The Who perform their celebrated rock opera Quadrophenia at the Royal Albert Hall on March 30, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
"As I get older my hearing is naturally dropping off, so I have to take great care," he added.
