Oxegen 09: Jerry Fish of Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club

First festival? Bob Marley played at Dalymount Park and I was there. That felt like a festival but I don't suppose it was.
Favourite festival memory (as audience)?
Glastonbury is just the greatest, where more often than not artistes and audience are one, particularly when it's muddy. The first time The Mudbug Club played Glastonbury we played for all three days, that was unforgettable. I bought this massive Hungarian Army tent and the whole troupe slept in it. Festivals like Glastonbury are as much about people-watching as music and performing arts, I just love the Circus Fields, the Stalls and Viva Lost Vagueness for putting glamour and mud together so well.
First one you played at?
Any mad memories? I've scratched my head for the last ten minutes and for the life of me I can't remember the first. I'm such a festival harlot! I remember I played a festival in Belgium called Pukkelpop in 1990. We shared a bill with The Ramones, The Pogues, Sonic Youth and Frank Black of The Pixies. Nirvana played a couple of bands before us and not long after Smells Like Teen Spirit made Nirvana the biggest band in the world. Backstage with Joey Ramone, Kurt Cobain and Shane McGowan is a memory that will stick. I also got to do some festivals with The Happy Mondays that year. Actually it's surprising I've any memory at all. More recently, The Mudbug Club played on our very own stage at the campsite in Oxegen three days of mayhem with Mudbugs, now that was memorable, great craic!
Best advice for festival first-timer (audience rather than performer)?
