Derby County’s biggest football fan Niall Horan has spoken about his passion for the club and about being a Derby mascot.
The Westmeath native is a huge Rams fan and while he is used to being adorned worldwide along with his fellow band members, the shoe was on the other foot when he met some of his Derby heroes.
"I remember meeting the Derby team on a flight as I used fly over and back on the same day with my Dad," the Mullingar man recalled.
"The squad were going to Dublin for the Christmas party and my Dad told them how I was such a big fan and it was arranged that I would be a mascot."
A 13 year-old Horan was the club mascot when they travelled to play Luton as he had family in the area and says it was such an exciting experience he would gladly do it again.
Horan is often spotted at the iPro Stadium when his schedule allows it and this week saw first hand Derby battle back from two goals down to beat Yeovil 3-2 in the Championship.
“Just been to derby v Yeovil! hard fought game! 2-0 down and won it 3-2 , super comeback ! C'mon you rams! #WeAreDerby !" he tweeted afterwards.
