O'Donoghue injured in boat accident

Danny O'Donoghue fell off a banana boat in Barbados

Danny O'Donoghue is battling on through The Voice live auditions after fracturing his ribs in a boating accident.

The Script singer - whose role as a coach on the BBC talent show involves pushing a button to spin around his chair when he hears an impressive audition - was injured after he fell off a banana boat into the sea while on holiday in Barbados.

Danny tweeted: "Hey guys thanks for the support, yes my ribs are fractured, asked for a body cast but all I got was pain killers #showgoeson."

The 32-year-old Irish singer - who is filming for the second series of the show, which returns to BBC One in April - told The Sun how it happened.

He said: "I came off the back of an inflatable boat being towed by another boat. I was bouncing around on the f****** thing and I popped out the back and crashed on to my ribs.

"I can't take deep breaths to sing or have sex. I don't have a girlfriend to complain, though."
